Alphabet And Fitbit: Could This Be the Competition the Wearables Segment Has Been Waiting For?

If Google can use FitBit to dominate the wearables market as they did with the android operating system for smartphones, the acquisition could make sense. Of course, the major player in this market is Apple.

Circuit Seed for configurable analog in scalable digital and CoreLogika for hyperspeed logic computing are technologies that could lead to a significant improvement in performance over the Apple watch. These technologies are built using the Complementary Current-Injection Field-Effect Transistor (CiFET). This configurable platform uses the ratio of the source and drain channels to meet specific performance requirements for each application. The circuits are less complex, linear without correction circuitry, and much smaller using a fraction of the power consumption of similar components. They generate less heat and operate over a wide temperature range - improving the performance, sensitivity and reliability of the circuits. This past October, the FCC began to explore opening up 1,200 megahertz of spectrum in the 6 GHz band for different types of unlicensed uses. This band is currently populated by microwave services that are used to support utilities, public safety, and wireless backhaul. Studies show that sharing this band with unlicensed operations is feasible—and can put massive amounts of new spectrum into the hands of consumers. 

Unlicensed innovator Claus Hetting of WI-FI NOW said, “This is without a doubt the single biggest opportunity in Wi-Fi—and probably in wireless—in a generation.” He added, “This 6 GHz spectrum boost will launch the Wi-Fi industry into a new growth trajectory.”

Circuit Seed is aiming to have the best of both worlds: protect today’s incumbent users of the band while turbocharging the Wi-Fi networks and applications of the future.

While this is good news for Wi-Fi, it will not work without adequate filtering to split this super wide frequency allocation into sub-bands. Low Noise Amplifier Market

In March of 2018, Transparency Market Research published a report announcing that the worldwide low noise amplifier market is estimated to be worth US$ 7.9B by 2026.

The LNA industry is fragmented with the usual group of semiconductor companies. Circuit Seed is a new platform utilising the Complementary Current injection Field Effect Transistor (CiFET) for processing analog signals using 100% digital components. This allows you to build a low noise amplifier using only two CiFETs which can be perfectly tuned to a 50 or 100 ohm antenna by adjusting the i-ratio.

Planet Analog featured, on 25 May 2019, Bill Schweber’s article “What to do about analog inaccuracies?”. Three options were presented: calibrate the sensor; use better parts; if possible, self cancellation.

Circuit Seed is a new platform utilising the Complementary Current injection Field Effect Transistor (CiFET) for processing analog signals using 100% digital components that can be constructed to build any low power analog device. Circuit Seed designs are aligned with all three options presented in the article. Circuit Seed is completely linear, and insensitive to temperature and process variation without correction circuitry that reduce inaccuracies. The build blocks are better parts with low power consumption and low SNR ratio. The CiFET itself uses self cancellation due to the complementary nature of the circuit improving performance. Finally, the designs are less complex thereby requiring less wafer space, fewer BOM which means less cost.
