Biography

Richard Gilbert is Professor of Psychology at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California; Director of The P.R.O.S.E. (Psychological Research on Synthetic Environments) Project, a research lab that investigates the personal and cultural impact of leading edge digital technologies such as Virtual Reality and Artificial Intelligence, and Chair of the Board of Governors of the Western United States Region of the Immersive Education Initiative, a global organization of researchers, educators. and members of the technology industry interested in educational applications of 3D or “immersive” digital technologies. He is the author of over 50 professional papers and presentations in the area of Psychology and Technology. Dr. Gilbert received his B.A. in Psychology from Princeton University and his PhD from the Clinical Psychology Program at UCLA with a minor in Developmental Psychology. In addition to his work in Psychology, he has a background in the creative arts as a Grammy Award winning songwriter and a published novelist.
