Dr. Siniawski joined the Mechanical Engineering Department in 2004. His goal as an engineering educator is to prepare our students to be ready for their future professional careers in terms of both technical and professional skills. He challenges our students with rigor and strives to provide them with a highly engaging learning experience.

One of his primary roles is to coordinate the capstone design projects for senior mechanical engineering students. He also teaches a variety of other courses, including introduction to engineering, mechanics of materials, and machine design.

Dr. Siniawski’s primary research area is in engineering education. He is especially interested in design education and the impacts of service learning on the technical and professional development of engineering students. Dr. Siniawski also conducts research in tribology, particularly regarding the effects of surface coatings and lubricants on the wear and friction of materials.

Dr. Siniawski has received multiple NSF grants and industry contracts to support his research. He was awarded an Apprentice Faculty Grant from the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) for his potential to significantly contribute to this field. He was also awarded the Ralph R. Teetor Educational Award from the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) for his significant contributions to teaching and curriculum development.
